Welcome to 'The Ins & Outs' - the official blog of the 2015 NCBA/NCSA Spring Training Showcase! Believe it or not, we're in the midst of planning the 10th Annual Spring Training Showcase event. That's 10-straight years of slinging buckets of water, orchestrating 60+ team schedules and getting to see some top-notch baseball throughout the month of March.
As a way to provide inside details to the event and get all of you loyal "STS" teams out there a bit more involved, we've created 'The Ins & Outs'. We'll be posting at least twice a month to bring you inside information on everything you need to know about the Spring Training Showcase. We'll talk about travel plans, fundraising, sponsor deals, past experiences and even the staff behind it all. But first, let's start with the basics:
What is the Spring Training Showcase?
Better known as "STS", the Spring Training Showcase is a month-long event hosted by the National Club Baseball Association and the National Club Softball Association in sunny Florida. NCBA and NCSA Member Teams are invited to travel south during their Spring Break and compete in the showcase, where they have the opportunity to face teams from all over the country. In an effort to accommodate a large number of teams with varying Spring Break periods, the Event Staff hosts the event through the entire month of March.
But the planning begins much, much sooner. Registration for the annual event opens about seven months prior to the start of March. As teams head back to school in the Fall, they start sending in their Registration Forms, Schedule Requests and begin budgeting for their Spring Training Showcase trip.
A lot of planning goes into the event, but we make sure that your team is the one making the majority of the decisions. We reserve the fields, sign-on Sponsor Hotels with discounted room rates, and partner with local restaurants, bars and venues to get your team discounts all over town. You decide how many games you want to play, when you want to play, where you want to stay and even what you'd like to do on your days off.
Last season, a record-high 73 teams attended the event!
For some, the Spring Training Showcase is a chance to play teams from across the country that they would otherwise not get to compete against. Some teams are looking to solidify their line-up and get out of the cold weather before the conference season starts. Other teams look to bond together in order to compete for a National Title. Whatever your goal in attending the showcase may be, the NCBA is able to help you towards it.
So start budgeting, get those registration forms in and look out for the second installment of 'The Ins & Outs' coming soon. Only 186 days 'til March!
